THE PROFESSIONALS

The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg was the site of Siile Matela’s studies for the degrees of B.Proc and LLB. His third degree, an LLM in Public Law, was obtained from the University of South Africa.

Following his articles, he taught law at Vista University. His key courses were Interpretation of Statutes, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Telecommunications and Media Law and Municipal Law. These are also now his practice areas. Mr. Matela’s professional interest areas include Personal Injury, Property, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Legislative Drafting, Family Law, aspects of Labour Law and Commercial Contracts. He has developed substantial expertise in civil litigation in all courts. He also serves the needs of a large media company and many other commercial entities whose briefs have ranged from routine corporate law advice to commercial litigation.

Siile Matela has also been involved in drafting legislation and policy formulation in the public sector. Over the years he has gained experience in human resources and office
management. He still has a strong academic streak in him and has published works on Language in Court, HIV/AIDS in the workplace and the Constitutional Court. He was a
member of the International Society of Family Law for a number of years and retains his links with many academics. Particularly passionate about interior designing and decorating, he also has time for landscaping.

Bongekile Mchunu joined Matela Sibanyoni & Associates Inc. as the company’s receptionist in 2008.

She obtained an LLB Degree from the University of South Africa. She then served her articles at Matela Sibanyoni & Associates Inc. until she was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Her areas of practice include High Court and Magistrate’s Court Litigation, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice Law, Family Law, Telecommunications and Media Law, Labour Law, Administrative an Constitutional Law and Procurement Law.

Nthabiseng Phako obtained an LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2018.

She served the majority of her articles at Matela Sibanyoni & Associates Inc. from 2018 until March 2020.

After her admission as an Attorney of the High Court in April 2022, she returned to Matela Sibanyoni & Associates Inc. as a Professional Assistant.

Her current areas of practice include High Court and Magistrate Court Litigation, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Procurement law, Commercial & Corporate Law, Telecommunications and Media Law, and Administration of Estates.
