BILLING STRUCTURE

Billing is the heartbeat of any law firm. However, Matela Sibanyoni & Associates Inc. takes every effort not to incur costs unnecessarily. This finds application in matters that can be resolved through settlement, referral to appropriate dispute resolution fora as well as those that can be dealt with by way of an opinion or a declaration of rights memorandum.

In non-litigious matters the following applies

Hourly rates are set depending on the nature of the instructions and where such instructions are required to be executed.

Travelling costs are billed per kilometre travelled Travelling time is billed per quarter of an hour.

Disbursements are recoverable as per vouchers submitted, whether same relates to hotel and airfare accommodation or Counsel fees and other experts′ costs.

Photocopying of voluminous documents is charged as disbursements.

Litigious matters

Litigious matters are billed above the statutory tariffs. In appropriate matters, contingency fee agreements within the guidelines of the Legal Practice Counsel are entered into.

It is important to note that these fees can be negotiated upon procurement of mandates subject to the extent of instructions, the regularity thereof and the promptness with which bills are settled. While fees may be negotiated, no discounts are given on disbursements.

Payment of accounts is due and payable within 30 days.
